What is Ear irrigation?

Ear irrigation is a safe and gentle method to remove a build up of ear wax using a controlled flow of warm water..

What happens during an ear irrigation procedure?

The Nurse will examine the ear using an otoscope. If there is any wax build up and no contraindications, the nurse will use a gentle warm stream of water to flush out the wax. The process usually takes around 15-30 min. We will check your ears again afterward to ensure they are clear and aftercare advice will be given.

Why might I need ear irrigation ?

You may benefit from ear irrigation if you are experiencing, A feeling of blocked ears, difficulty hearing, earache or discomfort, tinnitus ( ringing in the ears), itching or fullness in the ear.

 

What should I do before and after the procedure ?

To soften the wax  before your appointment, we recommend using olive oil ear drops  for 3-5 days, twice daily. This helps make th procedure quicker and more comfortable.  After the procedure you need to avoid getting your ears wet for 24 hours, Avoid inserting anything into the ear ( eg cotton bud ) You will be provided with full aftercare advice 

Is ear irrigation safe ?

Yes, ear irrigation is generally safe when performed by e medical professional  who c asn properly assess the ear beforehand, A full consultation is always carried out to check if ear oirrgation is appropriate for you..

Does it hurt?
Sculptra has minimal downtime. You may experience mild swelling, redness, or bruising at the injection sites, which usually subsides within a few days. To ensure optimal results, youll be advised to follow the ”massaging the treated areas for 5 minutes, 5 times a day, for 5 days to help distribute the product evenly.
Are there any risks or side effects ?

Yes,  but extremely rarewhen the procedure is performed correctly. Mild discomfort or irritation. Dizziness or vertigo. Temporary loss of heraring( due to water or wax movment) Ear infection. Earache.  A proper assessment before treatmetn helps to minimise these risks.

Who can't have ear irrigation ?

Patients with dizziness or balance disorders, pain in the ear, severe tinnitus , an active infection, perforated ear drum.
